IRAS

ASC visits IRAS (Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore) Today!

The very day that we know more about the Singapore tax system and its history.

Stacey, the staff at IRAS actually guided us through the different lines

in the circuit of IRAS Gallery to brief us on facts about tax.

We also had a chance to see interesting displays and artefacts at the area.

To learn and have fun at the same time! :)

We later attended a talk in the meeting room.

The talk is about overview of IRAS and the different kinds of taxes.

(Individual, Businesses, Property, GST, etc)

The MC later tested us by having a quiz.

And the quiz utilizes REMOTE ANSWERING CONTROLLER.

Darmn cool and high tech.

Its beyond your imagination! Hahah.

Indeed it is a fruity trip to learn so much things today.

Signing out,

Dining Etiquette (20th Jan 2010)

Hellos everyone.

Yesterday, we all had our basic dining etiquette session by Ms Jowena Neo.

From there, we had learnt some basic dining utensils and their arrangement. “Solids on the left, liquids on the right..” Other than that, we also learn some fine dining mannerism.

It was somehow useful to us in some ways or so as we get to know something new / more apart from our normal curriculum.

Hope everyone enjoyed the session. =)

*photos will be uploaded soon*

p.s. tml we have hand in our audit report and one project is down! =D

Goodnights~ =)

First presentation

Today we had our very first audit presentation in a lecture hall. =)
Some of us were very nervous to present infront of such a big crowd, but ASC has done a good job after all!
Claps to all of us. =)=)

Also, not forgetting that it is already our 5th week in ASC.
Time pass so frigging fast, and we are left with only four weeks.
From tomorrow onwards, Mrs Wong will be starting to teach us new stuffs to prepare us for our next project.

Not to forget, we will be having a class on basic dining etiquette tmr. All of us are so looking forward to it!

Open House 2010

Yesterday was the first day of the open house! I guess that everyone was excitied about it. Right? =)

07/01/2010

Well, everyone started to prepare their own station and get things done by 11o’clock in the morning. And we were all ready to start!

The crowd was not as fantastic as what we thought. However, most of us did our best in trying to get people over to ASC. A few lecturers were also there to guide us along too. Thus, everything went smoothly for the whole day. =)

And yeah! Tomorrow is the last day of the open house! I believe that each and everyone of us in ASC has put in alot of effort. So let us just work hard for one last day to make this open house a success!

*Pictures of the open house will be up soonnn!*

Rehearsal for OH 1

Learning how to play chess… the right way

There are activities lined up for us every Wednesday and this week it was CHESS!
Whenever I played “Chess” with my family or friends, we’d always play it our own style. I never knew what the pawn, bishop, rook and knight were called. I only knew the King & Queen and called the rest “castle”, “horse” etc etc. Hahaha how silly.

Only till Wednesday, I understood how many points each character is worth and what moves each was limited to (For eg: The Bishop can only move diagonally and the Rook can only move in straight lines). The main aim of the game is to check the opponent’s King so rmb, always protect your King!!!!

For me, I had loads of fun! I don’t know about the rest… But from the looks of it, I’m sure everybody enjoyed themselves :)

Some pictures to share!

Mrs Janice Law teaching us the techniques

My first opponent- Zheyu!

Laila was a very strong opponent and she managed to win me!

A very stressed up Lowell playing against Mrs Law. Hahahaha!

And here is me with a very good plan in my mind to beat my opponent! “You move here, I will eat you. You move there, I will still eat you!”
HAHAHAHAHA. I think everybody heard me saying this.

-

Well, it sure was an enriching lesson which taught us many new techniques in Chess and also made us use our brain juice which left some of us really worn out and eventually gave up on the game. Haha!

Apart from that, we also bonded as a whole team because we were made to switch partners. We were able to know more about the other people in ASC instead of the usual people we hang out with.

Looking forward to more of these activities!

With Love,
Beverly
